At the 2014 Gadget Show Live with DJI

We attended the Gadget Show Live at the NEC in Birmingham last week with DJI Germany . Running from Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th of April 2014, the event showcased some fantastic gadgets and innovations from around the world. DJI had surpassed themselves with a huge 140 square meter stand in a prime position on the show floor. A large video wall dominated one end of the stand displaying the latest promotional videos for their multirotors. But the flight cage, a large circular netted area in the center of the stand, became the focal point as DJI's experienced staff (and indeed ourselves) demonstrated the capabilities of various craft. The 'cage' was surrounded by curved tables covered in Phantom quadcopters that the public could get their hands on. Over to one side of the stand, two of the brand new spreading wings S1000 multirotors were on display. Both were fitted with professional 3-axis zenmuse gimbals for Canon 5D and Blackmagic cameras respectively. We were on hand to introduce new customers to the features of the Phantom range, whilst facilitating sales of the existing craft and pre-orders for the new ones. It was great to meet so many of our current customers, a few of which took the time to show us some of the videos they had made with their own quadcopters. The highlight for many (ourselves included) was getting hands-on with the Phantom 2 Vision Plus. Kept under wraps until the week before, the Vision Plus replaces its older siblings basic servo-tilting camera mount a cutting edge 3-axis brushless gimbal. During the week the team at DJI collaborated with the gadget show team to produce a couple of videos in one of the spare halls at the NEC. Pairing with the Voltzbikes guys, two of the  demonstrating two of their electric vehicles being driven by two of the Gadget Show presenters. Entitled 'Fast and The Happy - Birmingham Drift' it demonstrated the smooth action of the new Vision Plus. The stabilisation combined with the high frame-rate mode of the Plus' camera, allows for some silky-smooth slow motion footage of the skateboard in action.
