The Sakura Ultimate is as the name suggests, the top end touring car chassis 3Racing currently produce. It replaces the the successful Sakura XI chassis and using their 2 years of experience, 3Racing have managed to completely redesign the race platform improving key elements such as, suspension geometry, flex symmetry and weight distribution.
Inside the box, it is pretty much what we expected from 3Racing. Detailed instructions and clearly labelled part bags makes building a complex chassis very straight forward.
The Sakura Ultimate uses a front locked and a rear ball differential for a super sharp front end and a stable rear axle. 3Racing offers a wide range of diff systems for the Sakura as hop ups if you want to further customise the handling of the car.
The chassis makes great use of carbon fibre graphite and aluminium parts, which other brands will usually only include with a chassis costing twice as much.
It's good to see that the whole drivetrain is supported by aluminium bulkheads allowing it to support powerful motor systems with ease.
Bando drivebelts as standard for improved performance and reliability.
All new direct aluminium steering rack system for smoother steering response and vastly reduced steering 'slop'
SSK Front CVD for maximum traction when used with a front spool. ARB with adjustable droplinks front and back are included as standard
The Ultimate comes with all new Factory Racing oil dampers featuring aluminium thread shock body and harden and PTFE coated shock shaft for improved strength and efficiency.
All these suspension parts are mounted on carbon fibre graphite front and rear shock towers featuring a wide range of shock mounting positions.
Here are some photos of the completed build with and without electronics.
Overall, we feel the Sakura Ultimate definitely lives up to its name. We would highly recommend this chassis to any RC enthusiasts with the skills and experience to take on a high end chassis but are being held back due to the high costs.
